Lucky Vermonters win lottery drawing
Two Vermonters, including a Fair Haven man, are $10,000 richer for selecting some lucky numbers in a recent Powerball drawing. Meanwhile, lottery officials say there are still two unclaimed $10,000 prizes with one of the winning tickets purchased in February at the Cumberland Farms in Wallingford.
J. Kevin Graffagnino of Montpelier purchased his $10,000 winning ticket at the Cumberland Farms in Barre. While he has had dreams of winning the jackpot, lottery officials said Graffagnino was pleasantly surprised to discover his ticket won $10,000 during the April 30 drawing.
The second winner, according to lottery officials, is Jay Brannock of Fair Haven, who asked a clerk at Liberty Market to check his ticket last week - but only after he had held onto the winning slip for a week. At first, Brannock thought he had won $1, so was more than a little excited to find he had won $10,000.
There are still two unclaimed $10,000 Powerball prizes in Vermont. One ticket was purchased in February at the Wallingford Cumberland Farms, and the other was bought May 3 at the Madonna Mobil in Jeffersonville.
